Rediscover Freedom of Movement with Myofascial Release in Singapore

Do you experience persistent muscle tightness, stiffness, or pain that limits your daily activities? Do you feel restricted in your movements, like there’s a constant pulling or binding sensation? If so, Myofascial Release could be the key to unlocking greater comfort and mobility.

Myofascial release massage provides targeted relief for chronic pain that millions of people face every day. This therapeutic technique works on the fascia—a network of connective tissue that runs throughout your body to support and protect your muscles.

At Core Fitness, we offer expert Myofascial Release therapy to address the intricate network of fascia throughout your body. Our skilled therapists use gentle, sustained pressure and movement to release tension and restore balance within this vital connective tissue.

What is Myofascial Release?

Myo means muscle and fascia is a three-dimensional web of connective tissue that surrounds and supports all your muscles, bones, nerves, and organs. Healthy fascia is flexible and allows for smooth, unrestricted movement. However, physical trauma, repetitive stress, inflammation, or even emotional tension can cause fascia to become tight, restricted, and adhered. These restrictions can exert excessive pressure on pain-sensitive structures, leading to a wide range of symptoms.

Myofascial Release differs from regular sports massage. It is a specialized hands-on technique that focuses on your body’s fascia system and in particular, these fascial restrictions. It uses gentle sustained pressure on trigger points targeting deeper layers of fascia to release tension patterns and restore flexibility and optimal function throughout the body.

What to Expect During a Myofascial Release Session

During your Myofascial Release session with us at Core Fitness our experienced therapist will:

  • Conduct a thorough assessment: We will discuss your medical history, current symptoms, and movement limitations to understand your specific needs.

  • Use gentle, sustained pressure: Your therapist will apply slow, deliberate pressure to specific areas of fascial restriction, waiting for the tissue to soften and release.

  • Incorporate various techniques: A range of hands-on techniques will be used, including sustained pressure, stretching, and movement to address different types of fascial restrictions.

  • Focus on the interconnectedness of the body: We understand that restrictions in one area can affect other parts of the body, so we aim to address the root cause of your discomfort.

  • Communicate with you throughout the session: We will check in with you to ensure your comfort and adjust the pressure as needed.

Myofascial Release is a gentle yet powerful therapy. You may experience sensations of stretching, warmth, or softening during the session. Afterward, you may feel a sense of lightness, increased mobility, and reduced pain.

Should I Integrate Myofascial Release with Other Therapies?

We believe in the integration of other therapies for a holistic approach to your wellness, creating the best overall outcomes.

Combining myofascial release with Pilates for postural correction: Myofascial release techniques can be used in conjunction with targeted private pilates to improve posture problems. This combination of treatments helps release body restrictions and unwind fascia, allowing you to use your core muscles more effectively. Our method releases holding patterns and rewires how muscles and movements coordinate, leading to improved posture. Targeted exercises then reinforce correct alignment.

Combining with Rolfing/Structural Integration for improving alignment and functionality: Rolfing, also known as Structural Integration (SI), offers a complete approach that utilises myofascial release while treating the body as one system. This method differs from targeted myofascial work by following a structured 10-14 session plan over 3-5 months. The goal is to align the entire body with gravity. Myofascial release targets specific painful spots, but rolfing has a whole-body focus. Each session builds on the previous therefore it is not a quick fix option, but rather a process that creates lasting effects to improve your long-term posture and functionality.

  • Highly Skilled Therapists: Our therapists have extensive training and experience in Myofascial Release techniques.

  • Personalized Treatment Plans: We tailor each session to your individual needs and goals.

  • Holistic Approach: We consider the whole person, addressing not just the symptoms but the underlying causes of your discomfort.

  • Comfortable and Relaxing Environment: Our clinic provides a calming space for your healing journey.

  • Commitment to Your Well-being: We are dedicated to helping you achieve lasting relief and improved quality of life.

What Our Clients Say

After decades of teaching and standing for hours, I developed chronic shoulder and neck stiffness. I thought it was just part of ageing, until I tried myofascial release here. The difference was immediate. I can turn my head without pain for the first time in years. It’s gentle but incredibly effective. This isn’t just a massage—it’s proper therapy.

Margaret L., 62, / Retired Educator

Years of stress and poor posture from desk work left me with constant back tightness. I had tried everything from sports massages to chiropractic care. Myofascial release at this clinic was unlike anything else—targeted, precise, and lasting. Within three sessions, I felt lighter, more mobile, and pain-free for the first time in over a decade. THANKS!

David Chan, 48 / Corporate Executive

I had trouble with my hips and lower back that made gardening—and even walking—uncomfortable. The physiotherapist explained how fascia was causing the tightness, and the treatment was so tailored and professional. After a few sessions, I felt so much more flexible. It’s been life-changing for someone in their late 60s like me.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is Myofascial Release different from massage?
Myofascial release massage specifically targets the fascia—the connective tissue covering muscles—rather than the muscles themselves. It involves applying sustained pressure to restricted areas for several minutes to facilitate healing and improve mobility.

What conditions can Myofascial Release help with?
Myofascial release massage can effectively treat various conditions, including myofascial pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, postural issues, repetitive strain injuries, back pain, TMJ disorder, and carpal tunnel syndrome.

Is Myofascial Release painful?
Myofascial release aims to relieve pain and tension, so while some discomfort is possible and even expected, it should not be unbearable. Open communication with your therapist is key to ensuring a safe and effective treatment.

How many Myofascial Release sessions will I need?
Usually you will start to feel the difference after the first session. To make a significant change in your body, it will take 3- 5 sessions to make that happen. A weekly or bi-weekly session is beneficial to achieve and maintain the effectiveness of the session.

Are there any side effects of Myofascial Release?
Generally any side effects will be mild and temporary. You may feel soreness or fatigue and in some cases there may be mild bruising.  Do stay hydrated during this time.

What can I expect to feel after the session?
You may have discomfort similar to post-workout pain and tender muscles in the treated areas.
This usually subsides within 24-48 hours. After this, people usually report feeling lighter, more relaxed, and having increased range of motion.

Is there anyone who can’t do myofascial release therapy?
Myofascial release massage works safely for most people, but certain conditions rule it out completely. If you are on blood thinners, have a broken bone, stitches or an open wound, have vein problems, cancer, or rheumatoid arthritis then it is not safe for you. People with acute inflammation, body-wide infections, or certain metabolic conditions should check with their healthcare providers first. If in doubt, you can consult with our Physiotherapists first.

Can myofascial release massage be combined with other therapies?
Yes, myofascial release massage can be effectively combined with other therapies such as Pilates, traditional massage, and structural integration techniques for comprehensive treatment and long-term postural improvement.

How do I know if Myofascial Release is right for me?
If you are unsure if Myofascial release is right for you, our expert Physios can consult with you and develop the best treatment plan for your needs.

What should I wear to my Myofascial Release appointment?
Please wear comfortable exercise attire that allows body movement in various directions. You may also be asked to expose the skin of the body parts that the therapist will need to work on.

Is Myofascial Release covered by my health insurance?
We will provide you with an emailed receipt which you may make claim with your provider. However, it does depend on your individual coverage, please contact your insurance provider for more information.
